Upstairs you can inspect ancient pottery and beautiful porcelain work, old coins and banknotes, more shrines and a reconstructed hut of the early dwellers on Phu Quoc Island that offers an insight into their daily life. Over 2,500 UNESCO-inspected items of pottery are on exhibition as well, some of them dating back to the 15th century.

What to see?

Like in many museums in Vietnam, numerous artifacts in Coi Nguon Museum are not protected by glass windows or other barriers. Please don’t touch the exhibits.

Folk art from the ancient times to the present shows how the people worked and what their daily life involved. Especially the ceramic paintings are exceptionally informative and beautiful as well.

One niche is reserved for pictures from the Phu Quoc Prison, not as sobering as a visit to the prison itself, but makes you think about the 4,000 people who lost their lives there.

Various shrines offer an insight into the beliefs of the islanders and their cultural and spiritual life. A section features native costumes in a rainbow of enchanting colors.

The outside section includes the sea bird sanctuary, home of several threatened sea eagles, as well as a section dedicated to the Phu Quoc Ridgeback dogs.

Coi Nguon Museum includes a souvenir shop as well, a restaurant and a resort with pool and temple. You can learn more about the Museum on Phu Quoc Island on the official website.

Go all the way upstairs and find your way to the rooftop. The view on the premises, as well as Long Beach and a part of Duong Dong is pretty nice.
